Identity — Papayas
One of Six images in this series, "Papayas", is highlighted in this collective as an exploration of identity. "Identity" was a series that focused on my personal identity as an Asian American and my struggles with certain practices within the culture.  "Papayas" showcases how lighter skin is the beauty norm, having to use Papaya soap at a young age to look more beautiful to the public eye.

"Papayas," was featured in the 2024 AAPI Exhibition at the Sun Gallery in Hayward, CA.

Identity — To What Expense
One of Six images in this series, "Identity." "To What Expense", is highlighted in this collective as an exploration of identity, and the idea that owning expensive brands equates to status. I struggled watching my mom growing up, as I always loved when she was able to own expensive brands as it resembled an item or luxury she was never able to reach when she was younger. Yet these riches somehow often over shadowed her feelings of comparison, feeling that she constantly felt less than others based on the type of bags she owned. There was often a simultaneous feeling of joy even with the weight on her shoulders of sorrow.
